HOW DATE WITH DESTINY WILL HELP YOU FIND YOUR PURPOSE IN LIFE
Do you often find yourself asking, “What is my purpose?” How can you find your purpose in life? Many people have no idea where to begin, so they simply react to what happens instead of figuring out what they really want and need. Even when they think they know their purpose, they often mistake it with a short-term goal. And once that goal is achieved, what’s left?
IS THIS ALL THERE IS?
Ultimately, what we become, who we become is the answer to “What is my purpose?” A goal yields a sense of achievement. Purpose makes you into something more. Therefore, finding your purpose often leads to a sense of fulfillment.
When do you learn how to discover your purpose? Everything in life is growing or it’s dying. Everything in life is calling to us to grow. When we stop growing, that’s when you start feeling pain. And how many people have you seen who had everything you thought you wanted? They had all these people loving them; they were famous; they were rich; whatever you thought that was. They had a great family life, great kids, but they ultimately were unfulfilled, unsatisfied. They have continued to wonder, “Is this all there is?” It’s the stuff of tabloid disasters, right?
SEEKING MY PURPOSE IN LIFE
So, achievement, the outcome of a goal, is shortsighted. Achievement only lasts so long. You can achieve your goal, and you’ll be excited for how long? An hour, a day, a week, a month, a year. How long do you feel that total excitement for your goal after you achieve it, truly? After a while, it’s not enough.
But if you grow, your happiness lasts longer and your purpose in life seems clearer. You question less and less what is the purpose of life because you feel like you have more of the answers.
At Date with Destiny, Tony tells everyone in the room: “I will tell you right now, there’s one word that will give you happiness, one. You’ll remember it as long as you live, progress. Progress equals happiness. Achieving goals does not equal happiness.”
“WHAT IS MY PURPOSE IN LIFE?” HOW TO KNOW THE ANSWER
To be one of those who succeed, understand that both the science of achievement and the art of fulfillment create the road to happiness and a life of purpose.
What’s going to make you happy or very sad is who you become. If you let your past conditioning control how you evaluate that, and dictate how to discover your purpose, you’re going to shrink your life to a level that needs everyone else’s expectations. Inside you’ll still feel empty, but you’ve complied. Compliance is not a life that is fulfilled. Compliance is not for people who want to discover their purpose.
Instead, true fulfillment comes from designing your own life. To find your purpose, you must decide what’s truly right, and know it by your heart and soul, not by your fears or your head. A decision made from fear is always the wrong decision, always. It will not get you to understanding “What is my purpose” but instead drive you further away.
Searching for what’s your purpose in life? When you come back to your core and stop looking for external affirmation, you’ll find it sets you apart from others. That’s how you find purpose and fulfillment.
